All American Boy

Hello All,

In Honor Of Veterans day yesterday,  I thought I would share a bicentennial layout with you.entry 2

Lets take a look at the paper I used for this project. All the pattern paper is Doodlebug Patriotic Parade, Silver glitter paper is DCWV Glitzy Glitter paper, and the cardstock was just in my stock ( I think it was all recollections from Michaels).

I used  Doodlebug sequins to embellish the strip of blue paper and I adhered the sequins with CTMH Liquid glass. I also used Doodlebug bakers twine in the light blue, and my star punch for the stars.

My fun journal box was a print and cut. I traced a Silhouette of the USA and then off set it for the outline in my Silhouette software. It was adhered with pop dots.

The title was combination of the basic star shape and the tile All American Boy by Too Cute by Jessica. I love how easily that die cut came together.

I got the inspiration for this page from Pagemaps. They have such awesome page ideas, I just love visiting there site.

Hello all of my creative readers,

I am sharing a great Preschool page I made. This was a lot of fun to make with all the colors and patterns. Even though I am way behind on my books, aren’t we all lol, I couldn’t resist making my daughters 1st day of preschool page. entry1

Lets talk paper, it is from Doodlebug Back to School Collection. A fun quality of Doodlebug products is the bright colors that all coordinate. Here I am going to list all the colors that go with this paper collection sweetheart, tangerine, bumble bee, sweet pea, blue jean, and beetle black. Now you project can match seamlessly and you can buy this in individual sheets from Scrapbook.com, which I am super excited about because I just found this out. The vellum paper is by American Crafts.DSCF5768

The accents here are a bit random, I found the button and embroidery floss in my craft closet, but I love how it turned out. I used a mini glue dot to adhere the button and floss to the paper.

The word preschool can from Too Cute by Jessica, the crayon is from Miss Kate’s Cuttables and the notebook paper came from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.

I used pop dot on the title and used brads to attach the vellum the journaling. I love using vellum for journaling it allows you to use more bold papers for your journaling box. I just love the effect.

Happy Halloween Everyone,

I have a fun Halloween frame to share today. I love the versatility of this magnetic frame. This is a picture I captured from last years Halloween. I love all the funs colors and patterns of this project.

entry 3

Lets talk paper, the halloween paper is from Doodlebug Ghouls and Goodies Set, this set includes a sheet of stickers. The sequins and bakers twine are also Doodlebug. I just love there products. The frame itself is an oldie from Creative Memories. I won it at a crop 🙂DSCF5781

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the frame and the rest was stickers. I tied the twine on the clothes pins so they could easily be removed for switching out to the next holiday. DSCF5779

To make the stickers like a banner, I backed them with paper and then cut around them. It worked perfectly since I did not want them to stick to my paper. Then I added the Spooky sticker to the frame as a title and sequins on the banner for a little bling.

A couple of the things I love about this project is how easy it was to make, it took me about 1 hour, and the versatility of this project. I can take this off after Halloween glue it all together and add it to a 8×8 album if I want, or I can save the elements use it again next year with 2015’s picture.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween with your kiddos and are making and recording lots of fun memories.

Ferocious Friends

Hello again, I hope everyone has been getting some scrapbooking accomplished. This next layout I am about to share to was so much fun. All these pictures on this layout were taken on my phone, but I love the photo booth feel. You can really see the beginnings of a great friendship.DSCF5322

Lets talk paper the dinosaur pattern, I have no idea who it is by. I bought it about 4-5 years ago on clearance. The navy  embossed is bazzil, green grid is Robots paper pack from Hobby Lobby, the rest is just general cardstock. DSCF5324

A fun but subtle technique is to use the gel glaze pens in clear to add accents on your letters or diecuts. You can see it here on the letters in the title.DSCF5323

I also used the same technique here on this dinosaur. I also you the Black glaze pen for the eyes to make them pop.DSCF5326

Again I did a print and cut with my journaling. I love that capability with my Silhouette Cameo it allows me to do so many different things.

My Favorite Toy

I hope everyone is having a great day. This layout is one of favorites because of how well I replicated the toy Giraffe. It was a lot of hard work and manipulation, but it turned out great.DSCF5285

Lets talk paper the multi colored chevron by Doodlebug Designs is from their Hip Hip Hooray paper collection. the green and teal polka dot are By Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby, the rest are scraps, cardstock and some of the other textures were created using stamps. DSCF5286

So here is the Giraffe, he is so cool. I used a line embossing folder by Darcie for the body to give it a corduroy/velvety look, then I hand cut the front polka dot leg and chevron belly. I also embossed the back triangle piece (the teether) with a sporadic polka embossing folder by Darcie. For the other teal leg I stamped with my CTMH Honeycomb stamp  and lagoon ink to create that look. I also added ribbon to the tail to mimic the toy as well. With the wonderful white gel pen I added polka dots to the ears and hooves.

I took a chance on the title, buy using a bold print. The key for me when using a bold print as a title is always use a chunky font and add a thin border with a complementary color. Now looking back I can say I would make the border a bit thicker then what I did here, but all in all I love this layout.

Hanging with Daddy

I love to document all the little moments. This layout was so much fun to make. A little daddy son bonding time.

Here is a layout I created of a special moment that I caught of my husband and son right after dinner. Thank goodness for cell phones to help capture these moments.

For this layout I used a Paper Studio’s polka dot green, and Doodlebug Baby Boy paper. Both monkeys are files from Miss Kates Cuttables. She has some great easy to use files.

When you get stumped with journaling, you can always use a quote instead. I love this quote by Anne Geddes “Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a Dad.” It fit my pictures perfectly.

Remember titles do not have to always be straight, have fun and place it around for an interesting effect. Also a great way to embellish diecuts is to add a little highlighting, like I did on the title and monkey. You can also add faux stitching with a pen, on the pendant I use a fine tip brown pen to add some interest. On the larger monkey I used a Saruka Clear Glaze Pen for his nose to add a little gloss to it.

Though this layout is more on the simple side, it was a lot of fun to create and still lets the pictures speak of themselves.

Hello everyone, it is great to be back. I know it has been a while, so here is why I have been missing. I had stopped working on the blog in June 2013 because of extreme dizziness and nausea due to the pregnancy of my second child. So taking care of a 1-year-old, being pregnant with my second and tending to the my house duties (luckily my husband was great help) was all I could handle. As that subsided the pain and heart palpitations set in and so my focus was my family and my health. I also ended up with Braxton Hicks the last month or so, not fun, but worth it. In February I delivered a 9lb baby boy, no wonder I was in pain there was not much room for him since I am 5′.

My husband and I holding our newborn son.

I Didn’t really scrapbook for about a year, maybe a page or two here or there.  2-3 months after my son was born, I was ready to scrapbook again. I had missed it, not to mention fell way behind on my daughters book. I have scrapbooked whenever I could squeeze it in since. So it has been a year and a half since his arrival and life has finally calmed down enough for me to start-up the blog again. Thank you for those who hung around waiting and for any new people who are just finding me. I can’t wait to share my family adventures, fun pages, and techniques.

Our happy family. I am very blessed to have so much to scrap about.

On a creative note please leave a comment about some types of pages you would like to see or techniques. I have grown greatly since I started to scrapbook 9 years ago. I am excited to show you all what I have been working on. So keep an eye out for some new posts.
